Floor Action:

International- On April 28, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, S. 1635, the FY2016 Department of State Operations Authorization and Embassy Security Act.

On April 28, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the FY2017 Department of State Authorization Act (as-yet-unnumbered).

Violence Against Women- On April 28, the Senate passed, by unanimous consent, a resolution recognizing and supporting National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (S. Res. 452).

Mark-Ups:

Military- On April 27, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee passed several bills, by voice vote, including the Maritime Authorization and Enhancement Act (S. 2829)

On April 27, the House Armed Services Committee approved, 60-2, H.R. 4909, the FY2017 National Defense Authorization Act.

International- On April 28, the Senate passed, by unanimous consent, a resolution supporting the goals and ideals of World Malaria Day (S. Res. 436).

Health- On April 27, the Energy and Commerce Committee approved H.R. 4978, the Nurturing and Supporting Healthy Babies Act, as amended. The following day, the committee approved H.R. 3691, the Improving Treatment for Pregnant and Postpartum Women Act, as amended.

On April 28, the Education and the Workforce Committee approved H.R. 4843, the Improving Safe Care for the Prevention of Infant Abuse and Neglect, as amended.
