Floor Action:

Military- On October 7, the Senate approved, 70-27, the conference report for the FY2016 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 1735).

Family Support- On October 6, the House passed, by voice vote, the Child Support Assistance Act (H.R. 2091).

Small Business- On October 7, the Senate approved S. Res. 280, a resolution recognizing October as National Women’s Small Business Month.

Mark-Ups:

Small Business- On October 7, the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee passed the Women’s Business Ownership Act (S. 2126).

Budget- On October 9, the House Budget Committee approved the FY2016 budget reconciliation package (as-yet-unnumbered).

Hearings:

Abortion- On October 8, the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing, “Planned Parenthood Exposed: Examining Abortion Procedures and Medical Ethics at the Nation’s Largest Abortion Provider.”

International- On October 7, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations held hearings to examine international food assistance programs.

Education/Child Care- On October 7, the House Education and the Workforce Committee held a hearing, “Strengthening Head Start for Current and Future Generations.”
