Floor Action:

Abortion- On May 13, the House approved, 242-184, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 36).

Military- On May 15, the House passed, 269-151, the FY2016 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 1735).

Mark-Ups:

Military- On May 14, the Senate Armed Services Committee approved, 22-4, its version of the FY2016 National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1118).

Appropriations- On May 14, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies approved, by voice vote, the FY2016 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

Veterans- On May 15, the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Health approved H.R. 1575, a bill to provide counseling services for women veterans recently separated from the Armed Forces, H.R. 2257, a bill to improve reproductive treatments for certain disabled veterans, and H.R. 627, a bill to expand the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) definition of homeless veterans to include those homeless as a result of domestic violence.

On May 14, the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs passed, by voice vote, the Ruth Moore Act (H.R. 1607).

Appropriations- On May 13, the House Appropriations Committee approved, 30-21, the FY2016 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

Hearings:

Human Trafficking- On May 14, the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations held a hearing, “A Pathway to Freedom: Rescue and Refuge for Sex Trafficking Victims.”
