Appropriations- On June 25, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved, 16-14, the FY2016 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill (S. 1695).

On June 25, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved, 20-10, the FY2016 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill (H.R. 2577); the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies passed the legislation on June 23.

On June 24, the House Appropriations Committee approved, 30-21, the FY2016 Labor-Health and Human Services (HHS)-Education spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

Health- On June 24, the Senate Finance Committee passed, by voice vote, the Quality Care for Moms and Babies Act (S. 466).

Hearings:

Veterans- On June 24, the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee held a hearing on several bills, including the Women Veterans and Families Health Services Act (S. 469).

Health- On June 25, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health held a hearing, “Examining Public Health Legislation.”

International- On June 24, the House Agriculture Committee held a hearing, “Review of the International Food Aid Programs.”

Family Support- On June 25, the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Resources and the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Nutrition held a joint hearing, “Past, Present, and Future of SNAP: How Our Welfare System Can Discourage Work.”
