Floor Action:

Appropriations- On July 27, the House passed, 235-192, H.R. 3219, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act. The bill consolidates the FY2018 Defense; Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies; Legislative Branch; and Military Construction, Veterans’ Affairs, and Related Agencies spending bills.

Veterans- On July 28, the House passed, by voice vote, H.R. 95, the Veterans’ Access to Child Care Act.

Mark-Ups:

Appropriations- On July 27, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved, 30-1, S. 1662, the FY2018 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies spending bill, as amended.

On July 27, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed, 31-0, S. 1655, the FY2018 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies spending bill, as amended.

International- On July 27, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved S. 1631, the Department of State Authorization Act of FY2018, as amended.

On July 27, the House Foreign Affairs Committee approved en bloc, by voice vote, several bills, including H.R. 2408, the Protecting Girls’ Access to Education Act.

Human Trafficking- On July 27, the House Energy and Commerce Committee approved several bills, including H.R. 767, the Stop, Observe, Ask, and Respond (SOAR) to Health and Wellness Act, as amended.

Hearings:

Education- On July 26, the House Science, Space, and Technology Subcommittee on Research and Technology held a hearing, “STEM and Computer Science Education: Preparing the 21st Century Workforce.”
