Floor Action:

Health- On July 13, the Senate approved, 92-2, the conference report for the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (S. 524). The Senate vote clears the bill for President Obama’s signature.

On July 14, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, S. Res. 521, a resolution designating September as National Ovarian Cancer Month.

Abortion- On July 13, the House approved, 245-182, amendments to S. 304, the Abortion Objection Conscience Protection Act.

Mark-Ups:

Appropriations- On July 12, the House Appropriations Committee approved, by voice vote, the 2017 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

On July 13, the House Appropriations Committee approved, 31-19, the FY2017 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

International- On July 14, the House Foreign Affairs Committee approved, by voice vote, the Education for All Act (H.R. 4481).

Hearings:

Human Trafficking- On July 12, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing, “Review of the 2015 Trafficking in Persons Report.”

International- On July 13, the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Transnational Crime, Civilian Security, Democracy, Human Rights, and Global Women’s Issues held a hearing, “Zika in the Western Hemisphere: Risks and Responses.”

Violence Against Women/Education- On July 13, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee held a hearing, “Campus Safety: Improving Prevention and Response Efforts.”
