Floor Action:

Miscellaneous- On April 4, the Senate approved, by unanimous consent, S. Res. 112, which designates April 5, 2017, as “Gold Star Wives Day.”

Mark-Ups:

Veterans- On April 6, the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Health approved, by voice vote, several bills, including H.R. 91, the Building Supportive Networks for Women Veterans Act, H.R. 95, the Veterans’ Access to Child Care Act, and H.R. 907, the Newborn Care Improvement Act.

Child Protection- On April 5, the House Judiciary Committee approved, by voice vote, H.R. 1862, the Global Child Protection Act, and H.R. 1842, the Strengthening Children’s Safety Act.

On April 4, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce approved, by voice vote, H.R. 1808, the Improving Support for Missing and Exploited Children Act of 2017, and H.R. 1809, the Juvenile Justice Reform Act of 2017.

Hearings:

Military- On April 5, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies held a hearing, “Protecting Our Midshipmen: Preventing Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.”

Employment- On April 5, the House Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Workforce Protections held a hearing on H.R. 1180, the Working Families Flexibility Act.
