Health- On April 14, the Senate overwhelmingly approved the Medicare and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Reauthorization Act (H.R. 2) by a vote of 92-8.
Human Trafficking- This week, the Senate continued its consideration of the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act (S. 178), a bill that would establish a fund to aid domestic trafficking victims.
Education- On April 16, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee unanimously approved the Every Child Achieves Act (as-yet-unnumbered).
Appropriations- On April 15, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans’ Affairs, and Related Agencies approved, by voice vote, the FY2016 Military Construction, Veterans’ Affairs, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).
International- On April 15, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing, “American Food Aid: Why Reform?”
Veterans- On April 14, the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs held a hearing on, among other bills, the Ruth Moore Act (H.R. 1607).
Sexual Harassment- On April 14, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a hearing, “DOJ IG: Handling of Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Allegations.”
