Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act Clears Senate

On September 28, the Senate approved, by voice vote, H.R. 5578, the Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act, sponsored by Rep. Mimi Walters (R-CA). The Senate vote clears the bill for President Obama’s signature. The House passed the bill on September 6 (see The Source, 9/6/16).

Among other provisions, the bill would grant sexual assault survivors the right to free forensic examinations and preservation of evidence collection kits.
