Senate Sends Opioid Abuse Bill to the President

On July 13, the Senate approved, 92-2, the conference report for the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (S. 524). The House passed the measure on July 8 (see The Source, 7/8/15); the Senate vote clears the bill for President Obama’s signature.

Among several provisions, the legislation would provide $16.9 million annually to treat pregnant and postpartum women in substance abuse programs.
