Senate Sends CCDBG Bill to President

On November 17, the Senate approved, 88-1, the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act (P.L. 113-186). The House approved the measure on September 15 (see The Source, 9/19/14). The president signed the measure into law on November 19.

The bill reauthorizes through FY2020 “such sums as may be necessary” for the Child Care and Development Block Grant program (CCDBG) under the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act (P.L. 101-508).

Among other provisions, the bill requires background checks for child care providers and sets aside funds for improving the quality of child care.
