Senate Holds Commercial Sex Website in Contempt

On March 17, the Senate adopted, by a vote of 96-0, a resolution directing the Senate Legal Counsel to enforce a subpoena of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (S. Res. 377) against Backpage.com, a commercial sex advertising website.

The subcommittee held a hearing on November 19, focusing on its ongoing investigation into Backpage.com, which is alleged to contribute to sex trafficking of women and children (see The Source, 11/20/15).
