Senate Committee Considers Homeland Security for Children Act

On October 4, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs passed several bills, including S. 1847, the Homeland Security for Children Act, sponsored by Sen. Steven Daines (R-MT).

As amended, the measure would require the Department of Homeland Security to “identify and integrate the needs of children into activities to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate against the risk of natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other manmade disasters,” as well as human trafficking.
