House Passes Infant Protection, Opioid Abuse Bill

On November 16, the House passed, by voice vote, the Protecting Our Infants Act (S. 799). The Senate approved the legislation on October 22 (see The Source, 10/23/15). The House passed an earlier version of this bill on September 8 (see The Source, 9/11/15).

The measure, sponsored by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), would improve the reporting and treatment of prenatal opioid abuse and neonatal abstinence syndrome (newborn withdrawal).
