On June 7, the House Energy and Commerce Committee approved, by unanimous consent, H.R. 338, a bill to promote a 21st century energy and manufacturing workforce, sponsored by Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL).
The legislation would prioritize education and training for energy and manufacturing related jobs. Such training would include outreach programs to increase the number of women and minorities trained to enter energy and manufacturing sectors.
The committee also passed, 54-0, H.R. 2430, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Reauthorization Act, as amended, sponsored by Rep. Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR). The measure would reauthorize FDA user fees on prescription drugs, medical devices, and biosimilar products.
The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health approved the bill on May 18 (see The Source, 5/19/17).
