Family Support- On
June 10, the Senate approved, 66-27, the Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act
of 2013 (S. 954), commonly known as the Farm Bill, as amended.
Defense- On June
14, the House approved, 315-108, the FY2014 National Defense Authorization Act
(H.R. 1960).
Mark-Ups:
Defense- On June
13, the Senate Armed Services Committee approved, 23-3, its version of the
FY2014 National Defense Authorization Act (as-yet-unnumbered).
Abortion- On June
12, the House Judiciary Committee approved, 20-12, the Pain-Capable Unborn
Child Protection Act (H.R. 1797), as amended.
Appropriations-
On June 13, the House Appropriations Committee passed, by voice vote, the
FY2014 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and
Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).
On June 12, the House Appropriations Committee approved, by
voice vote, the FY2014 Defense appropriations bill (as-yet-unnumbered).
Hearings:
Military/Violence
Against Women- On June 12, the Senate Budget Committee held a hearing on
President Obama’s FY2014 Defense Budget Request. The House Budget Committee
held a similar hearing the same day.
On June 11, the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee held a
hearing on pending benefits legislation, including the Ruth Moore Act of 2013
(S. 294).
Child Protection- On
June 11, the Senate Finance Committee held a hearing, “Sex Trafficking and
Exploitation in America: Child Welfare’s Role in Prevention and Intervention.”
