Congressional Schedule: April 20-24, 2015

Floor Action:

Human Trafficking- The Senate is scheduled to continue its consideration of the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act (S. 178).

Mark-Ups:

Reproductive Health- On Tuesday, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will mark up H.J. Res. 43, a resolution disapproving the action of the D.C. City Council in approving the Reproductive Health Nondiscrimination Amendment Act.

Appropriations- On Wednesday, the House Appropriations Committee will mark up the FY2016 Military Construction, Veterans’ Affairs, and Related Agencies spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered).

Defense- On Thursday, the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel will mark up its portion of the FY2016 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 1735).

International- On Thursday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will mark up the Global Food Security Act (H.R. 1567).

Hearings:

Veterans- On Tuesday, the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee will hold a hearing, “Fulfilling the Promise to Women Veterans.”

On Thursday, the House Veterans Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on several bills, including H.R. 1575, a bill to make permanent the pilot program on counseling in retreat settings for women veterans newly separated from services in the armed forces, and a bill to improve reproductive treatment provided to certain disabled veterans (as-yet-unnumbered).

Human Trafficking- On Wednesday, the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations will hold a hearing, “Accountability and Transformation: Tier Rankings in the Fights Against Human Trafficking.”
