WCPI Remembers Dr. Leslie Wolfe

The Women’s Congressional Policy Institute Board of Directors, Emeritus Board, and staff mourn the passing of longtime board member Dr. Leslie Wolfe on November 30, 2017.

Leslie was the president of the Center for Women’s Policy Studies, founded in 1972 as the nation’s first feminist policy analysis, research, and advocacy institution, for nearly three decades. She was an expert on the trafficking of women and girls, and worked tirelessly to ensure passage of anti-trafficking laws in a number of states and at the federal level over many years. She was a pioneer in efforts to ensure federal funding for HIV/AIDS research on, and prevention targeted at, women and girls. Leslie also was an early advocate of educational equity for women and girls as the director of the Department of Education’s Women’s Equality Education (WEEA) Program.

Leslie was a larger than life personality, and she will be missed by many. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and many friends.
